Dammuso Donna Costanza: an ancient Pantescan home
This charming ancient dammuso is positioned along the south-western coastal line, not far from the contrade of Scauri and Rekale, located in an extraordinary panoramic position, almost on top of the hill of Karebi, from where it dominates the contrade below and it offers unique sunsets over the Mediterranean Sea.
Donna Costanza is an authentic ancient dammuso, in where to taste the flavour of the rural life that was undergoing long time ago.
Its privileged position on top of a hill that dominates the contrade of Scauri and Rekhale and overlooking the sea, gives the perfect solution for those who seek a building that complies with all the features of the Pantescan tradition and that- even if overall in good structural condition- can be refurbished to adapt it to personal taste and needs.
The main building has 7 rooms and on top of this, just few meters away from it, there’s a smaller dammuso, perfect to be converted into a guesthouse.
Apart from the features that can be found in other ancient dammusi, (thick walls of lava stones, vaults as high as 4mts, alcoves, dressing rooms, niches, wide open spaces between the rooms…), this dammuso offers something more peculiar: outside the main building there’s a covered porch with masonry domes and two arches that overlook the rest of the uncovered terrace. It’s an architectural factor that can only be found on this side of the island, in the contrade of Scauri and Rekhale, as they face the South-West, that is the side of the sunset, where the daylight hours are longer and more intense than in any other part of the island.
This covered terrace can be converted into a terrace or in a winter garden or it can stay as it is to maintain the uniqueness of this building.
Moreover, the property is surrounded by 5.271sqm of cultivated land, with vines and fruit trees.
