Paradise lost: the Pantescan Gardens

In July the holiday atmosphere and the temperatures are rising in Pantelleria. So what’s better than having a bath in one of the gorgeous bays or lay down under the shadow of a cannizzo? Lazy times where to find time to read a book, meditate, sleep or rest in a quiet place full of freshness and magic like the pantescan garden, a treasure made of stones where a citrus tress shelters from the winds and the extreme temperatures.

A mystic place whose entrance is a small door that forces you to lower, almost forcing you to take a bow to the beauty of the tree and the nature. Placed behind 3 meters high walls with sloping roofs, the pantescan garden represents the tenacity of the local people in taming the elements with all respect, guarding them form generation to generation. Not only: you can’t find the Jardinu in every house but only in few dammusi, and if your lucky to find one in your dammuso is going to be a unique experience during your holiday in Pantelleria.

Within the dammusi of Abitare Pantelleria, there’s a jewel, a romantic outpost overlooking the sea and the sunset that perfectly mixes tradition with modernity: the dammuso Agave Vittoria in Rekhale, recently refurbished, that can hold up to 6 people, with two large double bedrooms minimal style, a wide open space with a kitchen and a comfortable living room with breath-taking views of the sea and the sunset. Not far away, there’s a dependance with a bedroom, a bathroom and a private terrace.

In the same contrada, we have Giardino di Rekhale, a colorful and perfumed oasis where you can taste the flavor of the island in its total, submerged in a lush garden. The dammuso can hold up to 6 people in very elegant and comfortable atmosphere, with an extreme care for the details. It has 3 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and on the outside, a beautiful terrace with solarium that opens to a breath-taking view over the pantescan kuddie, apart from the traditional pantescan garden, where you can relax far from the sun and the wind.

Finally, in contrada Monastero, we have Casa del Vento, a combination of finely and cleverly refurbished dammusi, with traditional mediterranean vegetation, palm and olive trees and few terraces overlooking the sea and the sunset; with spots in where to hide to meditate and shadowed relax areas.

Casa del Vento can hold up to 12 people (plus eventually 2 more in a double boudoir) in 6 bedrooms, 5 bathrooms, an external kitchen with barbecue and a fabulous 15 meters long swimming pool. One of the rooms its worth the holiday in Pantelleria: you can admire from it the pantescan garden and its century-old citrus tree. La Casa del vento is a big property where to submerge yourself into the beauty of the silence and of the nature, without giving up on comfort and, if required, with many extra services. A real relaxing oasis, not far away from the best locations of Pantelleria, in order to experience all the charm and the beauty of the island.
