PASSITALY: Appointment in Pantelleria with the Festival Dedicated to PASSITO

Pantelleria reveals its vocation as an island of land already at the end of August, when the grape harvest begins with the picking of Zibibbo grapes. An activity that makes the island's landscape even more suggestive: it is not uncommon to come across the sight of thousands of clusters left to dry in the sun on stone drying racks, to then give, after pressing and fermenting the must, the most precious fruit: the Passito di Pantelleria, a real nectar known all over the world for its unmistakable taste and aroma.

A delightful and intoxicating wine for meditation to which Pantelleria has dedicated one of the most important Italian events in the industry for the past five years: Passitaly, which this year will take place from September 21st to 28th. A unique opportunity to visit the island and be intoxicated by one of its most representative products. Let's see the details.

A week dedicated to good drinking and bon vivre: Passitaly is the perfect combination of territory, culture, and traditions, where the discovery of the natural beauties of the island is accompanied by wine and food tastings of Pantelleria.
The result of the collaboration between the municipality of Pantelleria and the association of winemakers "Pantelleria Eroica," Passitaly, this year absolutely plastic-free, offers a full program of events that includes visits and excursions to the island's wineries, tastings of typical dishes, and dinners with the support of the Slowfood association, as well as numerous cultural appointments that will take place in the vineyard. The grand finale with the awarding of the best passito di Pantelleria and with the Passitaly Sound Festival: on September 26th, 27th, and 28th, the event will take place at the port of Scauri with concerts by Irene Grandi, Max Gazzè, and Carmen Consoli.

Now in its fifth edition, Passitaly emphasizes the fundamental role that the cultivation of the head-trained vine – a UNESCO World Heritage site – plays for the economy of Pantelleria and puts the island at the center of the Mediterranean: a place to be discovered not only for its wonderful landscapes but also for its products, for the productive realities that give it an important space in the world of wines, projecting it beyond its natural borders.

The Passito as the excellence of the island, therefore, is placed at the center of the scene not only for its quality but also for its being a symbol of an entire community that over the centuries has passed down an extraordinary, noble, and ancient agricultural tradition.
